PLS
Since it was launched on the market in 1985, the finned stem designed by Prof. Spotorno has proven to be one of the most successful cementless prosthetic stems.

In 2003 Lima-Lto gave a new vision to the design creating the PLS stem, seeking the best proximal fixation without bone-implant contact in the distal portion of the stem to prevent stress-shielding.

The straight cementless stem features a rectangular section with sloping profiles which, in the proximal portion, presents fins longitudinal to the diaphysis that taper distally.

Penetrating into the bony trabecular structure of the femur, these fi ns ensure an optimal primary stability. The stem was also designed to minimise and prevent undesired rotation, varus and subsidence.

To this end, square-shaped sections, medial curvature and metaphyseal fins have been studied exhaustively in order to improve and optimise their design, creating a stem with excellent stability, adaptable to the various types of femoral geometry.

Moreover, its macro-roughened surface allows the bony integration of the stem, thus permitting an optimal secondary stability.
