Accent
The cemented femoral stem ACCENT was designed starting from the experience matured with the MK1 stem.

The MK1 stem was born in 1972 and had, compared to the original Charnley stem, 3 main modifi cations oriented to reduce forces, estimated excessive, on the bone cement and restore the normal anatomy of the hip.

Modifications concern:

CCD angle from 125° up to 135°

Section of the stem with double conical decreasing

Big range of sizes

The polished surface allows to have a highest adherence between prosthesis and bone cement avoiding any stress share component.

The rectangular section of the Accent stem allows an harmonious stress distribution surrounding stem-cement interface, transforming torque stresses into compression stresses.

The rounded edges avoid all local stress concentration.

The aim of a double conical profi le is to better distribute the stress transmission all along the stem, transforming shear and torque stress components into compression stresses and reducing distal load.

This stem fully polished is INOX 5832-9 forged, 12/14 Morse taper allow the coupling with the whole range of Lima Lto ball heads.

The Accent range accounts 12 sizes spared in 5 series.

The instrument set has modular rasps that are used also as trials. Using a specific support for trial heads, the rasps perfectly correspond to the final
implant allowing an easier and faster surgical technique.
