C2 STEM
The C2 stem incorporates and optimises the “Zweymuller” philosophy, in a design that devotes the utmost attention to every detail. The sharp rectangular cross-section achieves optimal primary stem stability across a vast range of femoral anatomies. The macro-textured surface is designed for effective secondary fixation.
Characteristics
The tapered distal end minimises stress shielding. The rounded tip facilitates stem insertion while staving off the risk of thigh pain. The rounded calcar element ensures even load distribution while reducing the risk of bone resorption in this region. The neck is tapered to avoid impinging with the acetabular component, and the design also increases the implant’s range of motion.
Clinical results
The C2 stem dates back to 1996 and so far has been used in over 60,000 implants. The unique design features maximise its reliability, as evidenced by data showing a 99.9% 8-year survival rate1.
